Ashlin and Blake met two years ago to this month at a science policy conference when Ashlin decided to join a table of other young people at lunch. They found out that they had similar research interests and kept in touch over the year sending research articles to one another and pep talking about grad school. The next year, at the very same conference, the group that they had hung out with weren’t there, so Ashlin and Blake buddied up attending most of the same panels and enjoying meals together. They soon realized that they had a lot more in common beyond research.
Rainy Gatineau Park Engagement Shoot | Wendy + Ryan
Ryan, the small-town guy, and Wendy, the city-girl, came to Ottawa to have their engagement session in Gatineau Park. They were in town for this one weekend, so they dredged the gloomy, rainy day and made it look like a breeze. They were open to getting wet in the rain, and it made for some of my favourite engagement photos to date! A little bit of open-mindedness and a sense of adventure is all you need to enjoy your engagement shoot and have incredible results too.
Nepean Point Engagement Shoot | Hayley + Owen
These two are getting married at Le Belvedere this weekend! This wedding is extra special to us because we had shot Hayley’s sister’s all white Brockville wedding a few years back. So, I’m stoked to have been asked to come back to shoot Hayley and Owen’s wedding too!
Landsdowne Park and Tropical Garden Engagement | Sierra + Jay
Sierra and Jay’s paths first crossed on a varsity soccer game trip over 10 years ago! Jay played on the team as a senior and Sierra was there to support friends. Sierra caught Jay checking her out in the hallway several times, so she decided to make the first move and send him a Facebook friend request. Their connection was instant. From that day forward, they talked on the phone about anything and everything until the sun came out and somehow still made it to school the next morning because they were so excited to see one another. After that school year, Jay went off to post-secondary and with them being at two very different stages in their lives, quickly grew apart. They kept in touch over the years, but moved on to new relationships.
Charleston Lake Cottage Engagement | Emily + Dan
It was the last weekend of July when Dan planned it all. He had Emily’s step-dad come up with a fake excuse to get the entire family to Emily’s family cottage at Charleston Lake. Emily had no clue what was in store for her. On the Saturday morning, Dan took Emily out for a seadoo ride to the middle of the lake. He stopped the seadoo, repositioned himself to face her straight on and proposed to a very surprised Emily!
