Everything fell into place perfectly as Laura texted me pictures of her fun wedding prep details, including her gorgeous Badgley Mischka studded heels that she would be wearing throughout the day.  She chose white, green, gold and lilac for her wedding colours, a perfect combination for a hot summer day.  An all white, cream and pale green wedding bouquet created by her florist, Beyond the House, that combined roses and ranunculus must have been the highlight of her details!  She went for my favourite garden-inspired bouquet style, which is what EVERY SINGLE BRIDE SHOULD DO (in my non-biased opinion haha).  She looked like a dream in her intricately detailed mermaid wedding dress from Allure Bridal.

"I still can’t believe that today I get to marry not only my best friend, but also my grade 4, 7 and 11 girlfriend.”  Natasha and Rich, having already spent much of their lifetimes together, made their love for one another official this fall at Stonefields Estate in Ottawa this fall.

It was nearly 2.5 years ago that Natasha first reached out to me to potentially shoot her wedding.  At that time, I was 5 months pregnant with Hayat and weeks away from travelling abroad.  We managed to set up an engagement session before I flew off and we connected instantly!  She was looking for a modern yet rustic barn to host her wedding in 2018, so I instantly recommended that she look into Stonefields Estate.  With their white-washed interiors and crystal chandeliers, this modern barn venue was the perfect space to compliment Natasha and Rich’s love for the country with a clean, minimalist and modern feel.

I don’t even know where to begin with these two!  Emily, Jonah: thank you for bringing us along your beautiful journey.  For allowing us to be part of your special day.  To meet your sweet family and talented friends.  To enjoy the evening to celebrate the two smart, kind, joyful humans that you are.  You started off as lovers on Parliament Hill and are now newly minted husband and wife (and probably enjoying the crystal blue waters of the Maldives!).

Why you should invest in your wedding bouquet

It’s no secret that over the years, I’ve become a little flower obsessed.  Maybe it’s my increased appreciation and love for all things natural and beautiful.  Or the way flowers add life to a room. Or simply, flowers make everything better!   For weddings, I’ve become more attuned to how flowers set the stage for the overall vibe of the wedding day.  Whether it’s a classic all white affair, or a bohemian backyard bonanza, flowers can bring your wedding to life!   Understanding that full floral service can get expensive, I’m focusing on why I think you should invest in your wedding bouquet.  Special thanks to my friend Katherine from Pollen Nation Floral Studios, one of the premier florists in the Ottawa area specializing in organic, garden-inspired florals, who is lending her expertise on this topic too.  So lets dive right in!
