They were connected to one another when they were young kids. But their circles only intertwined decades later as adults. Mike’s dad, Audra’s doctor when she was a little girl, pointed her out to him as a girl to watch for. And on this day, they stood in front of one another and promised to spend the rest of their lives side by side.
Sierra and Jay’s paths first crossed on a varsity soccer game trip over 10 years ago! Jay played on the team as a senior and Sierra was there to support friends. Sierra caught Jay checking her out in the hallway several times, so she decided to make the first move and send him a Facebook friend request. Their connection was instant. From that day forward, they talked on the phone about anything and everything until the sun came out and somehow still made it to school the next morning because they were so excited to see one another. After that school year, Jay went off to post-secondary and with them being at two very different stages in their lives, quickly grew apart. They kept in touch over the years, but moved on to new relationships.
Their wedding day was brimming with beautiful family and Newfoundland traditions. They danced to a song called ‘Spirit’ by Tim Baker, a folk song that spoke to their deep love story. They ate cake made by Becca and Kendrick’s dad, a special carrot cake recipe that Kendrick’s late mother used to use to whip up this delicious dessert. Becca’s romantic Abigail of Gardenia dress was lined with blue ribbon under the hem, the same ribbon in her mother’s wedding dress.
Val and Paul’s love story started when Paul passed Val his number on a napkin.
Rewind a few days prior, Val and Paul met by pure chance through work a few years ago. Paul was an AV technician in Toronto and ended working at Val’s work’s annual event and spent a few days in Ottawa. Her role was to be the power-point girl, the one who pushes the button to change the slides for the speakers. She was really not looking forward to this event and wasn’t at all expecting that she’d be meeting her future husband. Although they had chatted a bit over the few days that Paul was working the event, nothing really ‘happened’.
It was December 2011, they had just finished writing their final exams and a group of friends were hanging out afterwards celebrating the much anticipated down-time that comes after the grueling exam period. Lauren and Skylar were first introduced through a mutual friend at this one hang-out and immediately bonded over their love of country music. It wasn’t until a few months later, and several asks from Skylar, that Lauren agreed to go on their first date. Lauren knew Skylar was the real deal when she moved away to London, Ontario on a 6 month-job contract and he whole-heartedly supported her career choice.
