Sometimes I have to pinch myself when I realize that this is my job. Connecting with people on such a personal, deep level that would not have been made otherwise. Freezing a moment in time in their lives and preserving it in a photograph (Ed Sheeran’s voice just popped into my head!). Capturing joyful, authentic emotions. Creating artful imagery. And it’s even more rewarding when I take a few moments to select my favourite wedding images of 2017.
Favourite Engagement Photos of 2017
I had SO MUCH FUN putting this post together today! I was smiling like a giddy old fool selecting my favourite engagement photos of 2017.
It's no secret that I'm a little obsessed with engagement photos. It's such a wonderful, fleeting time in a couple's life that deserves to be preserved. And besides, I get to witness so much love and sweetness and connect with my couples before the big day. It's a win-win for everyone!
Both my current and 2018 amazing, gorgeous, sweet, laid-back couples are featured.
Hiking the Mountains of Oman
Rugged. Barren. Desolate. Canyons. Converse sneakers.
Which of these is not like the other? Fortunately, Oman’s rugged mountains and our awesome guide, Hameed, made it all work.
We took a long weekend out to Jabal al-Akhdar (The Green Mountain) and Jabal al-Shams (The Sun Mountain), the highest peaks in the Middle East located in Oman’s interior province.
Behind the Scenes of 2017
To say 2017 has been a beautiful, chaotic mess is an understatement.
We started off with a bang with the birth of our baby girl, Hayat, in January. And she would be destined to travel A LOT in her first year of life with wide-eyed parents like hers! We took Hayat, at age 4 months, to Cape Town, South Africa. To Dubai. Then to Canada for a few months. Then to Qatar for another few more. Then to Oman in the mountains at age 11 months.
Sealine Beach in Qatar
For more than 6 months a year, Qatar is pretty much uninhabitable. The heat and humidity is so intense that Ali’s glasses fog up within 2 seconds of walking outdoors. And don’t get me started on the sweat stains. The city empties out of the species called human to escape the heat and those poor souls left to stay brave through the treachery until October comes rolling in. When the summer merges into winter (there is no autumn here - my favourite season!), the air cools down to a pleasant 24-28 degree celsius and humanity emerges from hibernation, wide awake and spinning with excitement. All this to say, a few weeks ago , we drove out to explore the Sealine beach, an hour south of the big city, to enjoy a BBQ in the wild with new and old friends. Except the ‘wild’ was humankind.
