This blog post has been so much fun to create. Emily and Dan tied the knot this fall at the Museum of History in one of the most elegant and sophisticated weddings I’ve shot to date!
Our favourite parts of the day: an emotional first look with her father in their backyard, overlooking Dowe’s Lake; an incredible view of Parliament and the Ottawa River during their portraits, and a heck of a reception entrance dancing their way down one long escalator. Oh, and lets not forget their choice of a donut cake, by Mavericks Donuts. These two have got to be my soul-mate dessert lovers.
Courtney Elizabeth Events, one of my favourite wedding planners (and not only because our sense of humours align) pulled the planning pieces together flawlessly with florals and decor by the wonderful mother-daughter team from The Gathering Event Company.
Friends, we’re going to rally the troops on this blog post once again! I will send Emily and Dan a SURPRISE GIFT if:
1 - this blog post of their elegant Museum of History wedding gets more than 10 comments; AND
2 - if the latest instagram post of their wedding gets more than 5 comments (click here to get there!).
So, let’s hear your wonderful words below. Take a peek at my favourites from their wedding, then scroll all the way down to comment!
We started off with all of Emily’s beautiful details. We found the softest light and European-inspired tile at the front door entrance. All the windows and natural light worked so well in our favour!
There were so many chairs to choose from at Emily’s dad’s house, but this powder blue won!
Sam Edelman shoes are always a good choice!
We had plenty of time to photograph Emily with her bridal party!
Gorgeous soft florals by The Gathering Event Co.
The light and space in this room made for the perfect getting ready location.
While the girls were getting ready at Emily’s family’s home, the guys were hanging out at a penthouse in downtown Ottawa with the most incredible views of the city!
Emily opted for a first look with her father. It was an emotional one!
First time that Dan sees his wife-to-be!
Once the ceremony was over, we all met up at the Museum of History for their portraits! It was a pleasant day with bright beautiful skies.
One of my favourite shots of the day! I stood up from a higher elevation to get the bridal party having a blast!
Some of my favourite bride and groom portraits of ALL TIME!
These stairs gave us such a magical backdrop to the second half of their portrait session!
We’ve never shot a wedding at the Museum of History, but you cannot beat the tall windows that gave guests a view of Parliament Hill and the setting sun.
The Gathering Event Company’s work on the florals gave that elegant touch.
Maybe the first couple who’s come down an escalator for their reception entrance!
