It’s hard for me to describe the extraordinary connections I have the honour of making with people whose paths otherwise may never have crossed with mine. It was a privilege to have been present to witness Becca and Kendrick’s love and to hear of all the funny and inspiring stories that were told about them by their closest family and friends.
Their wedding day was brimming with beautiful family and Newfoundland traditions. They danced to a song called ‘Spirit’ by Tim Baker, a folk song that spoke to their deep love story. They ate cake made by Becca and Kendrick’s dad, a special carrot cake recipe that Kendrick’s late mother used to use to whip up this delicious dessert. Becca’s romantic Abigail of Gardenia dress was lined with blue ribbon under the hem, the same ribbon in her mother’s wedding dress. She also wore her grandmother’s pearls to complete her wedding day look. They had a table set up commemorating their loved ones who had passed, including Kendrick’s beloved mother. In one of the many touching moments at their wedding, Kendrick danced the ‘mother-son’ dance with each one of his sisters and pulled in his father for an emotional hug before the dance floor lit up with cheer and dance.
Thank you two for allowing me to be part of your special day and for giving me the honour of capturing your love.
If you have a case of the ‘wild flowers’ then you’ll definitely want to catch Pollen Nation Floral Studio’s beautiful garden-inspired bouquets below that wow’ed everyone!
This pear-shaped diamond engagement ring was a show stopper! So of course, I photographed it at every opportunity I got.
I love Becca’s choice of simple French blue floral dresses for her special ladies. No fuss. Beauty and comfort for a hot and humid summer day.
Garden-inspired florals by my favourite, Katherine of Pollen Nation Floral Studios!
Becca was open to having her ‘getting ready’ shots taken outdoors because of the beautiful light and shaded area we had right around the corner.
We had ample time to capture details of Becca’s wedding attire, so this gave me the chance to get more creative and think outside the box!
Becca wanted to have a moment with her father to put on his boutonniere. It was such a special time for just the two of them.
Meanwhile, the guys were getting ready at Kendrick’s family’s home in Westboro.
Kendrick made time to hop up to the rooftop to hang out with his guys looking sharp.
The Herb Garden is called the ‘Herb’ Garden for a reason…for its plentiful herbs being harvested all year long! From lavender, thyme, rosemary. They had everything which added so much charm and a natural garden feeling to the ambiance.
Rose petals were prepared to shower the couple during the recessional. I support this idea 100%!! Becca thought of everything!
Becca’s best friend’s mother played the harp as the guests made their way to the ceremony space. The ceremony space had a beautiful tree front and centre that was draped with white linen in place of an alter.
Becca seeing her husband for the first time!
Kendrick seeing his wife for the first time down the aisle.
After the ceremony, we got the entire bridal party back together for a few minutes before mingling with their guests.
We walked around the beautiful grounds at The Herb Garden for their portraits and found several beautiful spots close by. It’s so nice not having to drive around to a different location to get photos taken. A walk down the paved walkway was all we needed!
Becca and Kendrick wanted a relaxed and fun ambiance at their wedding and that’s exactly what they achieved. Live music played while everyone enjoyed their drinks and cocktail-style food from Les Flavoureux.
The families set up a table to commemorate their loved ones who have passed.
Custom chocolate bars from Newfoundland as party favours. This is such a perfect personalized touch.
And finally, the first dance as husband and wife!
We had a few minutes to run over to the field to capture some golden hour photos before the second portion of the night. The light was beautiful and made for the most romantic ‘just married’ photos!
A sweet father-daughter dance!
Kendrick danced with his sister and sister-in-law, the wonderful, strong women in his life.
The dance floor opened up to traditional folk beats that riled up the masses!
And sweet macaroons to keep the energy alive!
The soft sunset that evening will be one of the most memorable moments of their wedding day.
