What a way to end our Ottawa / Gatineau 2019 wedding season with Hayley and Owen’s gorgeous cliffside wedding at Le Belvedere, my favourite venue! I first met Hayley at her sister’s all white chic Brockville wedding two years ago, so we were ecstatic that her and Owen reached out to us to photograph their wedding in Wakefield. It was that much more special for me to be there!
Their wedding day was brimming with beautiful family and Newfoundland traditions. They danced to a song called ‘Spirit’ by Tim Baker, a folk song that spoke to their deep love story. They ate cake made by Becca and Kendrick’s dad, a special carrot cake recipe that Kendrick’s late mother used to use to whip up this delicious dessert. Becca’s romantic Abigail of Gardenia dress was lined with blue ribbon under the hem, the same ribbon in her mother’s wedding dress.
Our first wedding of the 2019 season started off in the best possible way. Elise from Toast Events channeled the fresh spring season with the warmest-toned flowers across long harvest tables in a church-turned-urban-wedding venue in downtown Ottawa. Being their second wedding celebration (see their in-home ceremony here) Christine and Liam, went for a family style vegetarian dinner to make all their guests feel at home while the warm sun sparkled through the floor to ceiling stained-glass windows.
What an honour it was to be part of such a special day with Genevieve and Jason! After a two year-engagement and going through several life challenges together as a young couple, these two kind humans committed to one another amidst their favourite people with the blessings of their adorable son, Loic.
