Best Western Plus Perth | Kaylea + Chris

Kaylea and Chris’s wedding at the Best Western Plus Perth Parkside Inn & Spa came to life so beautifully with the help of Marianne from Heirloom Events who executed their vision flawlessly.  They wanted a fun and relaxed outdoor setting that their family and friends who came from out of town would enjoy.  They paired this laid-back vibe with a sophisticated, elegantly designed reception space at Matheson Hall, with its floor to ceiling glass walls overlooking Stewart Park in the background.

I don’t even know where to begin with these two!  Emily, Jonah: thank you for bringing us along your beautiful journey.  For allowing us to be part of your special day.  To meet your sweet family and talented friends.  To enjoy the evening to celebrate the two smart, kind, joyful humans that you are.  You started off as lovers on Parliament Hill and are now newly minted husband and wife (and probably enjoying the crystal blue waters of the Maldives!).

We are battling jet lag this week, and it's beating us up so far.  So we were super honoured to have our 'Botanical Rhapsody' bridal inspiration planned and executed by Toast Events, featured on Artfully Wed this week!

"Our concept took shape while walking through the perennial fields at our shoot location, picking flowers on a whim, pairing natural blooming vines, exposed greenery, post-bloom flowers – while designing onsite. We focused on combining organic, earthy and raw materials with ethereal highlights."

Why you should invest in your wedding bouquet

Why you should invest in your wedding bouquet

It’s no secret that over the years, I’ve become a little flower obsessed.  Maybe it’s my increased appreciation and love for all things natural and beautiful.  Or the way flowers add life to a room. Or simply, flowers make everything better!   For weddings, I’ve become more attuned to how flowers set the stage for the overall vibe of the wedding day.  Whether it’s a classic all white affair, or a bohemian backyard bonanza, flowers can bring your wedding to life!   Understanding that full floral service can get expensive, I’m focusing on why I think you should invest in your wedding bouquet.  Special thanks to my friend Katherine from Pollen Nation Floral Studios, one of the premier florists in the Ottawa area specializing in organic, garden-inspired florals, who is lending her expertise on this topic too.  So lets dive right in!

4 reasons why you will not regret having a first look

4 reasons why you will not regret having a first look

Oh, the infamous first look.

Whenever we meet with a couple, we always ask if they have thought about having a private reveal or what is more popularly known as 'the first look'.  If you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about, here’s the gist:  The bride and groom get to see each other for the first time on their wedding day before the ceremony.  They have a few minutes (or however long they want) alone together to enjoy the moment in privacy before spending the rest of the day with everyone else.  Some choose to read their personal vows to one another while others opt to simply enjoy each other’s company before the rest of the day unfolds.  I would say, 90% of our couples decide to have a first look, even those with a religious ceremony later in the day.  There are a multitude of reasons why, so I’ve narrowed down 4 of the top mentions.
